Day Trip to Bainbridge Island

Poulsbo, WA

The summer in the Pacific Northwest starts with 5am sunrise and 10:30pm sunsets. This provides opportunities for long day trips on the Olympic Peninsula. One worthwhile stop is Poulsbo. This little town is rich in Norwegian Heritage and considered and Little Norway.

The day started in Vancouver, WA, 150 miles south of Seattle. the drive up I-5 takes about an hour and half to reach the turn off in Tacoma.

Leaving Tacoma and heading towards the Olympic Peninsula will drive you right across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. A stop on the west side of the bridge is worth it. The park below the bridge provides an amazing view of the whole bridge.

Upon leaving Tacoma, the first stop to be made would be Bremerton. Bremerton is a major Navy town and military ships are visible at the entrance of the town from Scenic View Park.

The next stop along this route is a Poulsbo. Poulsbo offers visitors a version of Norway.

This beautiful little town is easy access from Seattle and a quick ferry ride gets you there early in the day.

The Ferry ride back to Seattle from Bainbridge Island offers amazing views of Pudget Sound and the Seattle Skyline.
